Will Michigan’s next AG be another gun grabber?

The Attorney General does not write the gun laws, though in the case of Dana Nessel she has certainly tried to…

The Attorney General ultimately decides how hard to defend them, how hard to enforce them, and what advice Lansing gets when the next gun-control bill hits the floor.

Look at the current Attorney General, Dana Nessel, if you want to see what that power looks like in the hands of an anti-gun Democrat.

Nessel testified in support of Whitmer’s 2023 gun-control package and pledged to “vigorously enforce” the “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation law, the universal permit-to-purchase scheme, and the mandatory storage law.

She has joined multistate briefs defending “Assault Weapon” Bans in other states. She has urged the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold federal “ghost gun” regulations.

She has pushed for greater legal liability against gun manufacturers, a federal ban on handgun sales to anyone under 21, and more restrictions on where law-abiding people can carry. Everytown spent heavily to keep her in office.

Democrat Eli Savit is just as radical — if not more radical — than Nessel.

Savit is the Washtenaw County (the home of Ann Arbor) prosecutor. He supports Michigan’s 2023 package: “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation, universal permit-to-purchase scheme, and mandatory storage.

He has already called for statewide bans on bump stocks and “ghost guns.” He is endorsed by Giffords and Everytown for Gun Safety. Put him in Nessel’s seat and he will not just defend the 2023 laws. He will use the office to push the next round.

Republican Doug Lloyd, the Eaton County prosecutor, is on the other side of the issue. He supports repealing Whitmer’s “Red Flag” law. He supports Constitutional Carry so law-abiding people can carry without a government permission slip.

His campaign websites says the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens “must not only be protected, they should be strengthened.”

Great Lakes Gun Rights does not endorse or oppose candidates. Our job is to put the record in your hands and force politicians onto that record.

I need you to contact both candidates today:

Email Eli Savit at info@eliformichigan.com. Urge him to reverse course. Tell him Michigan gun owners will not accept another Dana Nessel — or worse — in the Attorney General’s office.

Email Doug Lloyd at Doug@VoteDougLloyd.com. Thank him for supporting Constitutional Carry and opposing “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation. Encourage him to stand firm if he wants the support of law-abiding gun owners.

Now is the best time to apply that pressure. Weeks before the election is when candidates are still listening. They need to hear that how they treat the Second Amendment has consequences.

After contacting the candidates, please chip in a small donation to help GLGR fight the gun grabbers in the weeks ahead!
