Who stands for your gun rights in the Special Primary Election for Michigan Senate District 28 taking place on August 3rd?
With Governor Whitmer trying her hardest to impress the Biden Administration by pushing for more and more radical gun control, gun owners need our elected officials to be pro-gun now more than ever.
The best way to stop Whitmer’s attacks on gun owners is by going on the offensive by pushing for Constitutional Carry legislation.
Under Michigan law, a rioter who physically assaults a police officer can get less jail time than a woman carrying a pistol in her purse for self-defense without a CPL.
Carrying without a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) in Michigan is punishable with up to five years in jail and a $2500 fine for what is essentially a victimless crime.
And when the local and state governments shut down operations in 2020, many Michiganders were left without any legal way to carry their firearm for self-defense.
Now that the permit system is back up and running, gun owners are still left holding the short end of the stick.
Michigan has the 4th highest permit fees in the nation, and the state government is making a MASSIVE profit off of selling us back our rights.
With threats to the safety of Michiganders rising every day, it is more important than ever to know where your candidates in Senate District 28 stand on the Second Amendment.
That’s why I sent the Great Lakes Gun Rights Candidate Survey to candidates running for State Senate.
Unfortunately for Senate District 28, Republican candidate, current State Rep. Tommy Brann, has betrayed gun owners by publicly calling for banning lawful carry at the state capitol.1
And even though State Rep. Brann voted for a version of Constitutional Carry back in 2017, he has since voted against reducing CPL fees.
Michigan currently has the fourth highest permit fees in the nation, which is why it is so outrageous for Rep. Brann to vote against this common sense legislation.2
So even though he returned his Great Lakes Gun Rights Candidate Survey, his actions against our right to keep and bear arms speaks volumes over what he said on his survey.
Perhaps it was a lapse in judgement, but his support for banning lawful carry in the Capitol and keeping Michigan’s CPL fees some of the highest in the nation is a serious concern for gun owners.
If gun owners can’t count on him to stand up for the Second Amendment on these issues, how can we count on him to fight for our gun rights in the State Senate?
Thankfully, there is also good news for Senate District 28.
Republican candidate and current State Rep. Mark Huizenga voted to reduce CPL fees and also returned his Great Lakes Gun Rights Candidate Survey 100% in support of your Second Amendment rights!
Republican candidate Kevin Green also returned his Great Lakes Gun Rights Candidate Survey 100% pro-gun.
In returning their surveys, they are pledging their support for common sense Constitutional Carry legislation.
There are already 21 states that have Constitutional Carry laws on the books and many are consistently ranked as the safest in the nation.
Huizenga and Green are also pledging to oppose due process-shredding “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws and other radical forms of gun control that treat law-abiding gun owners like criminals.
Democrats are breathing down gun owners’ necks in Michigan, pressuring supposedly “conservative” politicians to compromise on your rights.
That’s why I need you to lobby your candidates now before the primary on August 3rd.
When a Republican refuses to take a solid stance in support of the Second Amendment, who knows what other core issues they will sell out on?
Politicians like Rep. Brann need to hear from the grassroots so they know that there are consequences for not fully supporting your gun rights.
That’s why Great Lakes Gun Rights is dedicated to keeping Michiganders informed about the true positions of our elected officials and candidates.
With supporters all across the state, we are giving gun owners a loud voice in defense of our rights.
And trust me, the politicians can hear you.
There is no better time to lobby them than when they are seeking your support at election time.
So please contact Tommy Brann at (616) 690-7928 to insist that he reverse course and fully support your right to keep and bear arms!
Make it clear that you expect him to stand up for the Second Amendments rights of all Michiganders at all times, not just when it is convenient.
Then contact Republican candidates Rep. Mark Huizenga at (616)334-4885 and Kevin Green at (616)745-5277 to thank them for returning their Great Lakes Gun Rights Candidate Survey.
Especially urge Rep. Huizenga to continue voting in line with the Second Amendment.
With our rights at stake, now is the time to take action!
For Freedom,
