Their goal is clear: finish the job they started in 2023 and impose the most radical gun control agenda this state has ever seen.
Unless gun rights activists like you stand up and fight, we could be facing a hostile takeover that dooms our Second Amendment rights for years to come.
All we have to do is look at states like Colorado and Virginia, both of which were some of the gun-friendliest states in the country, that the gun ban lobby has turned into mini Californias.
Great Lakes Gun Rights is working to expose the radicals before they get into power, to make sure every gun-owning Michigander knows what is at stake, but I can only do it with your help.

Look no further than Governor Whitmer’s own Gun Violence Prevention Task Force for the blueprint of what they plan to do.
In late 2025, this Task Force — hand-picked by Whitmer — released its final report with a laundry list of extreme recommendations that would gut the rights of law-abiding Michiganders.
This is the official playbook Democrats intend to run if they regain full control of state government:
● A complete ban on the sale, possession, manufacture, and transfer of “assault weapons” — the most popular rifles owned by millions of Americans for self-defense and sport
● A ban on standard-capacity magazines
● Raising the minimum age to purchase any firearm to 21
● Mandatory waiting periods on every gun purchase
● Expanding and strengthening “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation laws so more firearms can be seized without due process
● Going after gun manufacturers through lawsuits and by stripping legal protectionsDemocrat gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson has the full backing of radical anti-gun groups like Giffords, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Moms Demand Action.
This is not surprising since she fully supports their radical agenda and has even recently called for even more “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation in Michigan!
Not only that, but back in 2020 she attempted to unilaterally ban guns at polling places and almost got away with it until the courts slapped her lawless dictate down.
And now Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed — who supports gun bans, Universal Gun Registration, and “Red Flag” laws — is positioned to be one of her closest allies.
El-Sayed has a long record of radical positions, including calling for bans on “weapons of war” and large-capacity magazines, and even talking about “tweaking” the Second Amendment itself.
If Democrats take Lansing and send El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate this November, the 2023 gun control onslaught will look like a cakewalk by comparison.
Whitmer’s anti-gun Task Force report is their roadmap — and Benson and El-Sayed are ready to implement it.
And if they succeed, we’re talking about countless Michiganders becoming felons overnight for simply owning a firearm that the anti-gun left has deemed too scary to own.
Thankfully, Republican gubernatorial candidate and Congressman John James returned his Great Lakes Gun Rights Candidate Survey 100% pro-gun.
James has pledged to support Constitutional Carry, oppose “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation, and to repeal Michigan’s draconian Permit to Purchase scheme, which is also a de facto form of pistol registration.
His running mate, State Rep. Jay DeBoyer, has a 100% pro-gun voting record and is a sponsor of both Constitutional Carry and the bills to repeal Whitmer’s “Red Flag” laws.
Having this clear distinction gives GLGR the perfect opportunity to hold the anti-gunners’ feet to the fire and to make sure pro-gun candidates stand by their pledges.
