Details are still coming out about the tragic shooting at Oxford High School in Oakland County, but already anti-gun politicians and their allies in the media are howling for more gun control.
Governor Whitmer went on to claim in a public statement that “gun violence is a public health crisis” and that “we have the tools to reduce gun violence” without bothering to explain how exactly that is going to be achieved by the policies she supports, such as universal gun registration, gun bans, etc…
It doesn’t matter to them that Michigan already has some of the most draconian gun control laws on the books or that the students and staff were left defenseless behind a “gun-free” zone sign against an illegally armed assailant.
Gun control is an utter failure.
Evil men bent on doing evil will find a way to act on their evil desires.
Yet many of these same politicians will hide behind armed security at the Capitol while leaving children behind a useless “weapons-free” policy that isn’t even worth the paper it’s printed on.
Our prayers are with those affected by this heinous act and we pray that justice would be delivered swiftly.
While we await more details to come out about this criminal act, you and I must remain vigilant as it is often in the wake of tragedies that the enemies of our rights act.
It doesn’t matter that Republicans hold majorities in the Michigan Legislature.
After all, a Republican Governor and Republican majority in Florida passed the largest expansion of gun control in Florida state history back in 2018 in the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Our rights are only safe when defended.
I don’t know what the next few days or weeks will bring but rest assured that we’ll be watching closely and will keep you informed of any threats to your rights.
For now, keep the victims, their families, and the whole community of Oxford in your prayers.
Thank you for your continued activism and support. Nothing Great Lakes Gun Rights does to defend our rights would be possible without you.
