“Red Flag” Repeal Introduced in Michigan House!

Republican State Representative Jim DeSana just introduced a three-bill package to repeal Gretchen Whitmer’s “Red Flag” gun confiscation law!

House Bills 4138, 4139 and 4140 would end the unconstitutional practice of legally-owned firearms being confiscated by government agents without proper due process under the so-called Extreme Risk Protection Order law, better known as “Red Flag” gun confiscation.

These bills were introduced with 26 co-sponsors, almost half the Republican House caucus!

The bills were referred to the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Republican State Rep. Sarah Lightner, who voted against “Red Flag” gun confiscation back in 2023.

I’m now gearing up to call on the House Republicans to hold hearings on Rep. DeSana’s bills to repeal “Red Flag” gun confiscation, and I hope you’ll join me.

As you know, Democrats blocked gun rights activists from testifying against their constitution-shredding agenda back in 2023, including “Red Flag” gun confiscation.

That’s why Great Lakes Gun Rights joined with Michigan Open Carry to sue the Democrat-controlled Legislature for violating our First Amendment Rights and the Michigan Open Meetings Act.

“Red Flag” gun confiscation orders trample over the constitutional rights of Michiganders, all under the guise of stopping “bad guys” from getting guns.

But what we’ve seen time and again is that these laws don’t deliver on the gun grabbers’ lofty promises and instead are just used by government agents to seize legally-owned firearms without due process, turning the American legal system completely on its head.

Look, you and I both know that we aren’t going to repeal “Red Flag” gun confiscation in 2025, but the time to start working towards that goal is now.

The first step is getting legislation introduced to repeal “Red Flag.”

Then we’re pushing for a hearing and a vote.

We’re doing this now to prepare for the day that there are pro-gun majorities in the Legislature and a pro-gun Governor.

This isn’t going to be easy, but rarely is anything that is worth fighting for.

You and I cannot rest for a minute in the fight for our rights, so we’re going to have to keep the pressure up on Lansing.

Please chip in $30 or $10 to help us push forward our efforts to repeal Whitmer’s gun control schemes.

I’ll keep you posted on what is happening in Lansing with our gun rights and will let you know when it is time to take action in defense of our rights.
