Promises, promises…
Here we go again…
According to Crain’s Detroit, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey is once again handing out promises to hold hearings on the Democrats “Red Flag” gun confiscation bill package, SB 856-858.
As you know, “red flag” laws allow for government agents to seize legally-owned firearms without due process and without a crime even having been committed.
Oh, and if you have a “red flag” filed against you, you’ll only know when the cops show up at your house to confiscate them and you may never find out who filed it against you.
I’ve e-mailed you countless times about Shirkey’s deal-cutting with anti-gun Democrats which led to him first promising gun control hearings to Senator Rosemary Bayer back in 2019, the same week as the Second Amendment March.
He then renewed his promise to hold hearings earlier this year and seemed poised to do so, only until you lit up his world with phone calls and emails.
And now we’re learning just recently from the Crain’s Detroit report that Senator Shirkey promised the families of the Oxford victims that he would give hearings to the Democrats gun confiscation bills after the August primaries, when it is more politically feasible.
Of course, he would wait until after the August primary because he knows any Republican with a connection to him would get roasted in the primary for going along with his idiotic plan.
But holding hearings just a couple months before the general election is no smarter, Senator.
Gun owners already have trust issues with Republicans because of the crap they pull, like promising hearings to Democrats on “red flag” laws to Democrats in exchange for votes on something else.
Or like Republicans in the U.S. Senate led by Texas “Republican” U.S. Senator John Cornyn, who worked with anti-gun Democrats to give Joe Biden a victory with the largest gun control expansion in 30 years.
It’s clear that our gun rights are under assault by both political parties so we must make it absolutely clear that holding hearings or votes on gun control WILL come with political consequences.

Your signed petition will let politicians like Senator Shirkey know that gun owners are tired of having their rights tossed around like a bargaining chip and that such behavior will be held to account.
I don’t have to tell you how much is at stake in this fall election.
If Governor Whitmer wins reelection and Democrats take control of the Legislature, “Red Flag” gun confiscation orders will be one of the first orders of business when they take the helm in Lansing.
We’ve seen Democrats make this play before in Virginia, and they’ve pretty well made it clear here in Michigan as well.
So the last thing we need is Senator Shirkey helping set the table for them by giving them their coveted hearing.
Giving them a hearing in September will bring the gun control zealots out of the woodwork and get them all fired up right before the November elections and it would demoralize gun owners.
Perhaps this was yet another promise Shirkey had no intention of keeping (typical of so many of our politicians), but here’s hoping that he’ll once again see the stupidity of his promising hearings to Democrats on their most wanted piece of anti-gun legislation.
One thing is for sure, we have our work cut out for us in the months ahead. I’m in the process of planning how best to fight for our gun rights this fall by holding as many anti-gun politicians accountable as I can.
But I’ll be honest, finances are tight, as they are for all of us.
I’d love to be as aggressive as possible, by running ads calling out Governor Whitmer, Attorney General Nessel, and Secretary of State Benson’s lawless assaults on our gun rights.
There are also at least a dozen incumbent legislative Democrats who have either sponsored or co-sponsored “Red Flag” gun confiscation, “lock up your safety” laws, universal gun registration, and a myriad of other gun control bills in both houses of the legislature.
Exposing these radicals now before they get back into office is crucial to the future of our gun rights here in Michigan and I know that I can deploy a plan to do just that as I have in years past.
But I can only do it with your help.
I know that is a large ask, but I believe holding these radicals accountable is so crucial that I am asking all of our supporters to go above and beyond to help us fight back.
If $120 is just too much right now, I completely understand.
Will you consider a donation of $90, $60 or even $30?
Any amount you can give will help us have the ammunition to deploy hard-hitting ads, direct mail pieces, text messages, and emails on these anti-gun Democrats to make them think twice about stripping us of our Second Amendment rights.
No matter what you can give, thank you.
And thank you for all that you are doing to fight for our right to keep and bear arms.
For Freedom,
