Constitutional Carry introduced in Lansing!

Sep 9, 2019

Dear Fellow Patriot,

It’s official!

State Representative Steve Johnson (R-HD 72) just last week introduced Great Lakes Gun Rights’ Constitutional Carry legislation for this session of the Michigan Legislature!

Introduced as a package of bills (HB 4770, 4771, 4772, 4773 and 4774), this pro-gun legislation would restore the right of law-abiding citizens in Michigan to carry a pistol to protect themselves, whether openly or concealed, without having to beg the government for permission or pay expensive fees.

In addition to the original 5 sponsors, this legislation now has 11 cosponsors and has bipartisan support!

The bill has been sent to Military, Veterans and Homeland Security Committee, where it awaits a hearing.

Under this legislation, law-abiding citizens could legally carry anywhere that CPL holders can currently carry (barring anywhere currently prohibited by federal law).

It would also restore the right to carry a loaded pistol in your vehicle without having to obtain a CPL, a practice that is already legal (in some form) in over half the country.

The CPL will remain intact so that Michiganders can obtain it for the purposes of interstate reciprocity, it would simply become optional.

The basic principle with Constitutional Carry is that no law-abiding citizen should face the threat of jail time for deciding to carry their pistol concealed instead of openly displaying it.

Law-abiding citizens in Michigan should be restored the choice of how they carry, and Constitutional Carry would do just that!

Already 15 states have Constitutional Carry on the books with South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Kentucky passing it into law just this year!

If we want Michigan to join the growing ranks, you and I have to stay on offense even through the years with Gretchen Whitmer as Governor.

Because there will come a day that she won’t be in office any more (or before then maybe she’ll have a drastic change of heart), and pro-gun Michiganders need to be prepared to send Constitutional Carry to the desk of a pro-gun Governor!

So please sign the petition encouraging your lawmakers to support Constitutional Carry TODAY!

After you’ve signed, please consider chipping in $30 or $10 to help GLGR make Constitutional Carry a reality in Michigan.

Thank you for your support.
