Out of thin air, Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel claims the Michigan State Capitol Commission does have the legal authority to ban guns in the Capitol building.
This comes just days after the commission had already determined that it lacked the proper authority to do just that.
This shouldn’t be surprising for anyone observing Michigan politics, as AG Nessel has a track record of interpreting state law in such a way that fits her radical political ideology.
And sticking it to law-abiding gun owners by giving political cover to the commission to ban guns is consistent with her leftist political views, as well as her vocal opposition to the Second Amendment.
In her letter, she claims that the authority to ban guns is about safety, but she seemingly ignores the fact that the lawful carry of firearms in the Capitol has a spotless safety record spanning decades.
Like most gun control advocates, she isn’t letting the cold, hard facts get in the way of ideology.
Now, the Michigan Capitol Commission is scheduled to meet today, May 11th at 11am to discuss firearms in the Capitol and on Capitol Square.
This is not looking good.
Whatever your views on the protest last week, the Attorney General creating new authorities to ban guns at the Capitol out of thin air should concern all pro-gun Michiganders.
We are a state and nation of laws, and to have the Attorney General create broad new authorities for government agencies to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms is bad news.
I’ll be watching the results of the Capitol Commission meeting closely and will report back to you what happens and what it means for Michiganders.
The war on guns is alive and well here in Michigan.
The Gun Control Lobby and national Democrats are looking to spend millions of dollars to take control of the Michigan House of Representatives in 2020, to set the table for a complete takeover of our state government in 2022.
Your continued support is greatly appreciated and gives us the resources needed to fight back against those seeking to strip us of our rights.
Stay safe and stay vigilant.
